Preethi Natarajan wins UD Theodore Wolf Dissertation Prize

Ms. Preethi Natarajan won the 2009 Theodore Wolf Prize for the outstanding PhD dissertation in the Physical and Life Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Geology, Marine Studies, Climatology and Agricultural Sciences).  Preethi's dissertation, entitled "Leveraging Transport Services for Improved Application Performance" was officially completed in Winter 2009 under the guidance of her adviser, Professor Paul Amer.

Preethi's dissertation investigated three problems: (1) exploiting transport layer multistreaming to enhance the World Wide Web in underdeveloped regions (e.g., remote villages in Africa and India), (2) enhancing transport performance with non-renegable selective acknowledgments, and (3) improving transport layer concurrent multipath performance during times of network path failure.

The Theodore Wolf Prize included a certificate and $1000 award, and was officially presented at the UD PhD hooding ceremony on May 29.
