Changing majors/minors
New students
The University admissions office handles all undergraduate admissions into the University for a CISC major, including incoming freshmen and transfer students.
Current students - Changing Your Major to CIS
The BS in Computer Science, BA in Computer Science and Information Systems majors are open majors, which means that you can submit a change of major form in UDSIS at any time. You apply online at http://www.udel.edu/udsis-student. An advisor from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences will be assigned as part of the form processing and you will be notified of your new advisor.
If you are contemplating a change to a CIS major and would like some preliminary advice/information from the Department, the undergraduate program coordinator, Professor Keith Decker, will be happy to speak with you. Contact ugradprgm@cis.udel.edu. It is recommended that before commiting to a CIS major you have completed CISC courses up to and including CISC 181 and MATH 241 or MATH 210. To have a good chance of success in a Computer Science major, you should have a B- or better in each of your CISC courses taken so far, particularly in CISC 181, and a minimum grade of C in MATH courses taken so far.
Adding a minor
The CISC Department processes all applications for the computer science minor and the bioinformatics minor through the online application form at http://www.udel.edu/udsis-student. For advice on the the elective course choices of the minor, contact ugradprgm@cis.udel.edu.
